Welcome to our SQW Program!

Bribie Island Rd Saddle Club Inc has been granted funding to deliver a SQW (Skilling Queenslanders for Work) project.

As part of this project, we require 15 trainees to commence a six month full time paid traineeship for AHC10120 Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.

To do this traineeship you should
– not be currently enrolled at school
– live in the Moreton area
– have not previously enrolled in a SQW (Skilling Queenslanders for Work) program
– hold a Blue (Working with Children) card or can register for a Blue Card
– be unemployed or underemployed

This is a full time paid position and we welcome anyone from a disadvantaged background who has been unsuccessful in obtaining a suitable employment position.

The hours will be
Monday to Thursday 7.00am-3.30pm (30 minutes lunch)
Friday 7.00am-1.30pm (30 minutes lunch)

If you are selected, a large amount of the time during the traineeship will be spent doing the following work:

Rejuvenation of flood affected areas and trail ride area
– Repair erosion
– Repair/ repair fences
– Weed control
– Repair creek bank
– Repair riding trail
– Reduce undergrowth since flood event

Repairs to existing sheds, equipment and facilities
– Preparation for painting
– Painting
– Maintenance and repairs
– Repair/ replace fences

Maintenance and repairs to property
– Mowing
– Whipper Snipping
– Repairs to overgrazed areas
– Weed control
– Maintenance to grounds

However the main aim of our program is to get you a job during or on completion of your traineeship.

So during this time, you will also
– work with other trainees in a team building situation
– refresh and develop existing skills
– learn new skills
– have assistance making a resume
– participate in mock interviews
– have support to answer job advertisements
– have transport assistance for interviews
– have other assistance in preparation for interviews

Potential positions could include working within
– Agriculture, including forestry, fruits, gardening and general farming type positions.
– Construction apprenticeships, including gardening/ landscaping and general handyman type positions.

SORRY! THERE IS NO HORSE WORK WITH THIS TRAINEE POSITION.
HOWEVER THIS TRAINEESHIP COULD LEAD TO WORKING WITH HORSES AFTER YOUR SIX MONTHS TRAINEESHIP.
