Welcome to Our Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program!

Bribie Island Rd Saddle Club Inc has been granted funding to deliver a SQW (Skilling Queenslanders for Work) project by the Queensland Government Department of Employment, Small Business and Training.

As part of this project, we require 15 trainees to commence a six-month full-paid traineeship for AHC10120 Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.

To be eligible this traineeship you should
– be minimum of 15 years – no longer enrolled at school
– live in the Pumicestone Electorate
– have not previously enrolled in a SQW (Skilling Queenslanders for Work) program
– hold a Blue (Working with Children) card or can register for a Blue Card with us
– be unemployed – an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on a pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen.

This is a full time paid position and we welcome anyone from a disadvantaged background who has been unsuccessful in obtaining a suitable employment position.

The details are:
Tentative Dates to Interview for Positions: 10th to 12th (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) February 2025
Tentative Date for Traineeship to commence: Monday 17th February 2025 at 7.00am
Pickup and dropoff: Caboolture Railway Station, cross over to car park. Hours: (Monday to Thursday) 7.00am to 3.30pm with 30 minutes lunch (Friday) 7.00am to 1.30pm with 30 minutes lunch
Total Weekly Hours: 38 hours

The key objectives for the ‘Galloping into Careers’ project are:
– to give marginalised and disadvantaged people in the Caboolture and surrounding areas a sense of achievement by providing training and support into employment and to support them with life skills required to enter the workforce and to become productive members of the local community.
– for employers of the Caboolture and surrounding areas with ‘job ready’ employees who can assist them in achieving business goals.
– to assist Bribie Island Rd Saddle Club Inc to achieve their goals which include offering a safe and welcoming club to the local community with well maintained resources and facilities.
– to provide facilities to minimising the damaging effects of the sun to local community groups who use club grounds including Youth Justice, State Emergency Service, Scouts, City of Moreton Bay (Health and Active programs), etc.

Much or the practical activities for this activity will be to provide shade for members, trainees and for activities.

This includes;
– additional shade cloth in the arena viewing area
– extending existing tool shed to provide further shade
– repairs to existing shade shelters
– new shade shelters where required
– planting of shade trees
– new landscaping
– ongoing repairs and maintenance to grounds

The main aim of this project is to get you a job during or on completion of your traineeship. During this time, you will also
– work with other trainees in a team building situation
– refresh and develop existing skills
– learn new skills
– have assistance making a resume
– participate in mock interviews
– have support to answer job advertisements
– have transport assistance for interviews
– have other assistance in preparation for interviews

Potential positions could include
– Agriculture, including forestry, fruits, gardening and general farming positions
– Construction apprenticeships, including gardening/ landscaping and general handyman type positions.
– Other positions in the local area and wider community

THERE IS NO HORSE WORK WITHIN THIS TRAINEE POSITION. HOWEVER THIS TRAINEESHIP COULD LEAD TO WORKING WITH HORSES AFTER YOUR SIX MONTH TRAINEESHIP.
